Mauricio is a Mexican corporate, mergers and acquisitions, project financing, real estate, mining, energy and ESG compliance lawyer with over 20 years of experience in private practice working for major law firms Baker & McKenzie Mexico, White & Case Mexico, White & Case LLP and IHMA Abogados y Consultores. In addition to being a partner in the law firm IHMA Abogados y Consultores from 2012 to 2022, Mauricio acted as General Counsel and Secretary of the Board for Grupo Mexico, a nearly 30-Billion dollar Mexican mining and trading conglomerate on the Mexican Stock Exchange (GMEXICOB) and on the NYSE through its subsidiary, Southern Copper Corporation (SCCO).

Representative Matters

Participated as General Counsel for Grupo Mexico in an attempted hostile take-over of Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, S.A.B. de C.V.
Negotiated the Distribution Agreement for Lexus cars on behalf of Toyota Motor Sales de México, S. de R.L. de C.V. and provided regular advisory services for Toyota concerning the relationship between Toyota and/or Lexus and its distributors.
Attended to the day-to-day legal needs of a Volkswagen-Audi-Seat Distributors with operations in Mexico City and Cancún.
Participated as General Counsel in the acquisition of a Gulfstream G550 (2012), a Gulfstream G650 (2018), and a Cessna Sovereign (2018) for operation in Mexico by Grupo Mexico.
Participated as General Counsel of Grupo Mexico in the EPC & Infrastructure Transaction with Siemens for the construction of a Combined Cycle Gas Powered 500 MW energy plant for the Mining Division of Grupo México in its Caridad facilities in Sonora, México.
Implemented ESG compliance program as General Counsel for Grupo México, S.A.B. de C.V., as private practitioner at IHMA Abogados y Consultores, and for Grupo Gigante, S.A.B. de C.V.
Attended to the routine contractual needs of McCormick Pesa de Mexico, Krispy Kreme de México, Toyota de México, Lexus de México and others.
General corporate practice for clients of the IHMA Abogados y Consultores Firm.
Served as Secretary of the Board of Directors of Grupo México, Secretary of the Board of Krispy Kreme México, and many other Mexican companies.

Coordinated as General Counsel of Grupo Mexico the litigation team in a 2.100 Billion Shareholders Derivative Class Action against Grupo, which was settled through mediation.
Participated as Mexican Counsel in the sale of Metal Logic, S.A.P.I. de C.V. to Comex-Lafarge.
Acquisition by private equity fund Logic Capital, LLC, of $50M Mills Products USA and Mills Products de México.
Participated in the US$400,000,000 sale of Universidad del Valle de México (“UVM”) to Sylvan Learning Systems (currently Laureate Universities).
